Master in Hindu Spiritual Care (Chaplaincy) Course at IHU USA
This course is created to provide education and training for chaplains based on the essentials of Hindu Dharma to increase awareness of the needs of Hindu patients in western hospitals, hospices, universities, prisons, workplaces, and other environments. Basic education is provided on how Dharmic principles inform the holding of sacred space for empathetic communication with the Hindu and their family in situations where spiritual support is needed. In this course, you will get a clear view of universal Chaplaincy skills through the lens of prominent Hindu wisdom teachers. Each week you will have assignments to watch videos, read articles, learn and practice skills, write a reflection paper, and participate in a 1:1 conference call with an active, experienced Hindu Chaplain. The student will be required to maintain a Personal Chaplain Manual and encouraged to keep a journal as part of the Manual. The reading assignments contain several useful worksheets in addition to research articles, books, and sacred knowledge. You are not required to purchase additional reading materials for this class. The course is unfolded in three 15-week self-paced modules and can be completed within 24 months.
